Who we are

VisionLink operates VisionLink QR at https://qr.visionlink.co.za. This page covers the hosted QR dashboard and the public scan redirect. It is the privacy policy later advertising pages will link to.

Hosted redirects

When someone scans a VisionLink QR, they request a short code on the scan host. We look up that code and send the browser to the destination URL you configured. The destination is supplied by the workspace that owns the code. We do not control the site you send people to.

Scan analytics

Each successful scan can be recorded so a workspace can see how a code is used. We do not store a raw IP address. Analytics may include:

• a hashed IP address — we do not store the raw IP
• user-agent text, truncated, plus derived device and browser
• country, as an ISO country code from CDN headers or GeoIP
• language, referrer host, and UTM query fields when present

How long a workspace can read this history depends on its plan. Free workspaces see scan totals only, without breakdowns.

Cookies

The dashboard at qr.visionlink.co.za uses authentication cookies after you sign in so your session can be restored. Those cookies are set by our auth provider for signed-in account use, not for advertising.

The scan host (the origin that serves QR redirects such as vlcard.me/…) may set an HttpOnly cookie named vlq_vid. It is a random visitor identifier, hashed before storage, so we can estimate unique scanners without keeping a raw device ID. Camera in-app browsers often drop cookies, so unique counts stay approximate.

Advertising

Some plans assign an ad flag to a hosted code. A sponsored confirmation page on the scan hop is planned and is not live yet. Scans still go straight to your destination.

When that page ships, it may load Google advertising cookies and similar technologies on the scan host. Google may use those cookies to personalise ads or measure them. You can opt out of personalised Google ads in Google Ads Settings and learn more at aboutads.info.

Account data

If you create a workspace we store the email and name you provide, membership, plan, and the QR codes you create (short code, optional label, destination, status). We use this to run the service, not to sell a contact list.

We may update this policy as the product changes. The date at the top of this page is the current version.
